2011 Audi A2 Concept

A few days ago, Audi announced an addition to its alpha-numerical line-up of the “A” family of sleek cars. This new prototype is known as the Audi A2 Concept, as we were told. According the automaker, the new concept vehicle is set to debut at the next Frankfurt Motor Show in a few weeks time. Considering the rapid rate with which the company is churning out the models of this line of cars, we reckon it won’t be long before we get to A10 that will complete the cycle. But we’re not yet there – all we have at the moment is the newest member of the family, which is the 2011 Audi A2 Concept.
Designed as a pure electric concept car, this reincarnated A2 dumps its previous small MPV body in favor of a five-door hatchback, which in large part is smaller than the notable Audi A1. We’re yet to get full details about specific configurations of the prototype. Audi is keeping quiet about the specs, but said they will be made available to the general public at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. But the exclusive information Audi Concept has about the new vehicle indicates that the body isn’t entirely made of aluminum, which largely characterized the original model.
Other information we gathered from an Audi insider who is familiar with the design indicates that the 2011 Audi A2 Concept will feature a flat interior floorboard, a rear console that stretches between its two rear seats, a center console fixed to the driver’s seat and four individual seats. The vehicle will be propelled by what Audi said is a powerful electric drive mechanism for long range and agile performance.
For the time-being, we have to take Audi’s word regarding the new concept car, since we haven’t seen it live and test-driven it. But then, the Frankfurt show is around the corner, and so, we’ll not be waiting for a long time.

The general outlook of the 2011 Audi A2 Concept is so much intriguing, because it exudes luxury and sophistication. Surely this is a car designed to grab a lot of attention!
Since the introduction of the concept car was announced a few days ago, it has been creating a lot of buzz among auto enthusiasts and prospective purchasers. However, some critics complain they can’t fully appreciate the beauty of the vehicle, owing to the fact that the only thing Audi presented is a few sketches. That notwithstanding, no one argues that the sportiness of the car is a big plus for an electric vehicle.

The initial model of the “A” family line of cars was exquisitely designed, and we reckon this new model will include even more features and add-ons. However, there is a general curiosity on why Audi announced the car has the capability to generate a high-speed performance. Many questions remain unanswered at the moment. Things like: how many kilometers can the car travel before its power runs down? How is the electric motor system configured? Well, all those questions and many more will be answered at the upcoming automobile show in Germany in a couple of weeks.

2013 Mini Cooper

Mini has already announced big plans for the future: new models, an expanded line-up, and new engines are just a few of the targets set by the company. And as a proof that Mini engineers are hard working to keep these promises, our spy photographers have caught the new generation Cooper testing. The new Mini Cooper is set to be released in 2013.

Despite the heavy camouflage, we can see that the new Mini will grow in all directions in order to make room for the production version of the Rocketman concept announced at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. The new Cooper will also receive a more aggressive design language, a more sharply steeped A-pillar, and a wider front grille. It will be built on an all-new UKL1 platform that will also be shared with the next generation BMW 1-Series and will be offered in both FWD and AWD versions.

As for the engine line-up, Mini will offer a new three-cylinder engine family next to the conventional four-cylinder engines. These three-cylinder engines will first make their debut in the new BMW 3-Series as the 316i.

Mini has promised that the 2013 Cooper will be offered in up to ten body versions, including a van.

HP to release Windows 8 tablet in 2012

Hewlett Packard will continue to produce tablet PCs, and they will be powered by the Windows 8 operating system, the company said during a call with market analysts on Thursday. The future of its webOS mobile OS remains uncertain.

“We’re at the beginning stages of a new segment,” said HP Chief Executive Meg Whitman. “I hardly think that we’re too late, the work we’re doing with Microsoft is extraordinarily compelling, ultraportables are compelling.”

Prior to the analyst call on Thursday, Whitman announced that the company will not sell or spin off its PC business, the so-called Personal Systems Group (PSG), a move that HP’s previous CEO, Leo Apotheker, said was a possibility prior to his ousting. In the official announcement about the decision, HP did not specify whether tablets, along with desktops and laptop computers, would remain apart of the company’s production portfolio.

According to Whitman, HP’s first Windows 8 tablet will launch sometime next year.

The company also plans to reduce the number of products it manufactures, says Whitman, to give greater focus to producing a small number of quality computers.

“One of my observations is that HP tries to do a lot of things,” said Whitman. “And I am big believer in doing a small number of things really, really well — set them up, knock them down, set them up, knock them down.”

WebOS, the mobile OS HP purchased along with Palm last year for $1.2 billion, may be among the products cut by HP, as it streamlines its business. Earlier this year, HP liquidated its inventory of the webOS-based TouchPad tablet by slashing the price of the device down to as little as $99.

“I think we need to be in the tablet business,” said Tom Bradley, executive vice president of the PSG, as quoted by the L.A. Times. “And we are certainly going to be there with Windows 8, and so we are going to be make another run at this business…. We’re going to make a decisions about the long-term future of webOS within HP over the next couple of months.

“And as soon as we make that decision we will let you know on that. Because many people have said to me, ‘Well, isn’t the webOS decision just completely tied to [PSG]?’ The answer to that is actually no. WebOS has obviously used in the PSG business, but also in other businesses that we have. So it’s actually — we have to make a more holistic decision around webOS.”

THE BIGGEST FIGHT--- Nokia lumia 800 vs IPhone 4s vs Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Apple was keen to point out the speed of its browser technology with the iOS 5 upgrade at the launch of the iPhone 4S, and we were seriously impressed by how quickly it rendered and loaded pages in our iPhone 4S review. Side-by-side with the Lumia 800, that optimization is clear. With the cache cleared and each on the same WiFi connection, the iPhone 4S led the way to the mobile version of the SlashGear homepage, the Nokia a few seconds behind. It was the same loading the full version of SlashGear, with Apple’s handset pulling ahead of the Nokia. It looks as though Internet Explorer on the Lumia 800 does some of its rendering in the background, before showing the results on-screen, and so we were often able to begin reading first on the iPhone before each page finished loading.
Day two of Nokia World 2011, and Nokia loaned us a new Lumia 800 to get to grips with at the show. We couldn’t help but pit the Lumia 800 against two of its key rivals – Apple’s iPhone 4S and the Samsung Galaxy S II – to see how the browser holds up. With many smartphone users spending a huge amount of their mobile time on the web, that’s a key element of the owner experience. Read on for our comparison videos and more
